The president of the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV), Calixto Ortega, reiterated during an interview the announcement to allocate part of the Venezuelan gold illegally held at the Bank of England to the purchase of supplies and medicines, in the context of the health crisis, in agreement with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

Ortega reported that the purchase of “food, medicine and medical equipment” is a direct agreement with the humanitarian agency, so he reiterated that “it is the United Nations that says that. They are not going to get involved in anything obscure that is not neutral and independent,” referring to allegations of alleged diversion of Venezuelan funds.

After receiving the refusal of the British financial entity to hand over the Venezuelan resources for the purchase of medical supplies by UNDP, the BCV proceeded to file a complaint before a court in London.
