The people in Mantanzas provice Recall, through the symbolic edition of the Caravan of Freedom, the journey made almost six decades ago by the rebel troops headed by Fidel Castro, on January 7 and 8, 1959.
On this occasion it has a special connotation for being the first caravan without the physical presence of Commander Fidel. The re-edition of the Caracan of Fredom It is carried out by 60 young people from different sectors of society, as a tribute to the 60th anniversary of the FAR and the landing of the yacht Granma.
The journey, dedicated to young people, began on Saturday morning in the town of San Pedro de Mayabón, to tour the cities located along the Carretera Central.
In the evening, the capital of the province will host a cultural gala in front of the balconies of the Government building where Fidel Castro gave a speech on January 7, 1959.
Tomorrow, Sunday, the caravan will march to Cárdenas, where it will visit the José Antonio Echeverría House Museum before continuing its journey to Mayabeque province.
