World Breastfeeding Week begins today
Havana, Cuba. – From today until August 7, Cuba celebrates with multiple activities the World Breastfeeding Week under the slogan Let’s Empower, make breastfeeding possible. Now and in the future!
The specialist of the Unit for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, Dr. Olga Lidia Revilla, told Radio Reloj that the Day on the Island is focused on the main role played by the father in supporting breastfeeding, for the welfare and full development of mother and baby.
She insisted that the co-responsibility of the father in the tasks of care and domestic chores in such an important period facilitates that the mother can dedicate to the child the time she needs, as well as having space for herself.
During World Breastfeeding Week, there will be acknowledgement in the country of volunteer mothers who donate breast milk, among other activities.
