Moscow will suspend its participation in Missile Treaty
Russia will respond reciprocally to the U.S. decision to withdraw from the Short and Medium-Range Missile Treaty. That exit will take place in six months, Russian Chancellor Sergey Lavrov announced.
As for the possibility of future negotiations, Lavrov stressed that there continues to be initiatives proposed by Russia to its US and NATO partners on the issue.
Because the West has not reacted, the Russian president ordered not to insist and calmly wait for its Western partners to mature to respond to proposals long sent to them on a wide range of strategic stability issues, Lavrov said.
Since February 2, the White House unilaterally suspended its obligations under the Short and Medium-Range Missile Treaty.
