More Americans Favor Trump’s Political Trial
A growing number of Americans are seeking impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump for alleged violations of the law before and during his administration.
They were joined by a former Republican congressman who served for nearly two decades in the House of Representatives, who criticized the president, called him an ‘illegitimate president’ and asked for his impeachment.
In this regard, the former Republican legislator alluded to the report of special prosecutor Robert Mueller where he describes 10 charges of obstruction of justice that he could not present due to a rule and regulation of the Department of Justice that says he can not charge a sitting president, said former Rep. Tom Coleman (R-Montana) in statements to CNN.
The former Republican legislator in his arguments said the White House chief received help and influence from the Russians during his campaign.
He also noted that the abuse of power, lying to the American people were two reasons for Nixon’s recall articles before his resignation.
Justin Amash (Michigan) tripled his impeachment calls this week, citing some ‘intrinsically corrupt’ actions mentioned in Mueller’s report.
On the lawsuits, Democrats are divided, and this week, Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerod Nadler maintained his pressure on the leadership for a impeachment investigation and a contempt vote immediately after legislators return from their one-day Memorial Day recess on May 27.
According to a recent poll by Morning Consult/Politics, only 28 percent of Americans said initiating impeachment proceedings should be a priority for Congress.
