Loading of medical supplies and equipment from Russia arrives in Venezuela

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro today reported on the arrival in the country of a shipment of medical supplies and equipment from Russia as part of the aid to confront the U.S. economic siege.

In a meeting with representatives of the Cuban Medical Mission and the Pan American Health Organization, the president reviewed various projects to strengthen and articulate plans for promotion, prevention, rehabilitation and comprehensive care of the Public Health System.

During this day, 7.5 tons of medicines, including ampicillins, pinicillins, hydrocortisones and other high-cost compounds, as well as medical-surgical material, arrived in the nation by air.

In total there are 108,428 units of medicines and other supplies, he said.

He also noted that on Thursday, Vice President Delcy Rodriguez received a delegation from the Contact Group of the European Union (EU) in a private meeting to agree on technical cooperation.

Venezuela made a request for two billion dollars to finance batches of medicines, to ensure a robust supply process,’ said the president.

According to the president, this offer of humanitarian technical assistance from the European agency responds to the protocols of the United Nations system (UN) in Venezuela and it will be paid by the Executive under normal financial conditions.

I hope that the EU fulfills in this opportunity all that is this process with the UN, which we must increase and strengthen,’ he said.
