International support for Venezuela in the face of an attempted coup d’état

The Iranian administration joins the wave of rejection generated by the self-proclamation of Venezuelan oppositionist Juan Guaidó as “interim president” of Venezuela, in an unconstitutional act.
Russia recognizes Nicolás Maduro as president of Venezuela, as expressed by the Russian Foreign Ministry when indicating that “only Venezuelans have the right to determine their future,” and that “a destructive external intervention is unacceptable.”
The spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry pointed out that “attempts to usurp supreme power in Venezuela contradict and violate the foundations and principles of international law.”
“We describe such an intervention as unacceptable because it could have very negative consequences, and we consider statements about military influence to be very dangerous,” the spokesman said.
To Moscow, provocations “have nothing to do with the democratic process” and they represent a direct route leading to “bloodshed and chaos”.
China and Mexico also expressed their support for the Venezuelan president, who promised to “fight until victory and beyond” and he announced the breaking up of diplomatic and political relations with Washington after the new aggression against his government.
Syria joined the countries that support Nicolás Maduro, and trusts in Venezuela’s victory over the imperial pretension of the United States, with its intromission in Venezuelan affairs, which is a violation of international laws and of the country’s sovereignty.
The Government of Syria, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed its solidarity this Thursday with the people of Venezuela and the Government of President Nicolás Maduro. He also condemned the flagrant intromission of the United States in Venezuelan affairs.
In a statement, Syria points out that U.S. actions constitute “a violation of all international norms and laws, and of Venezuelan sovereignty.
China showed its support for the Venezuelan government on Thursday and censured the “intromission by the U.S. in the South American country, after Washington recognized as legitimate the self-proclaimed interim president Juan Guaidó.
These statements come after this Wednesday, the Venezuelan opponent Juan Guaidó proclaimed himself “interim president” of the country, in an act that is not envisaged in the Bolivarian Constitution.
After the self-proclamation, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, recognized Guaidó as supposed president of Venezuela, actions that were rejected by the legitimate Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro, who proceeded to break diplomatic and political relations with the American nation.
