Guterres calls for violence to be avoided in Venezuela
The Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, ‘strongly urged’ to avoid violence in Venezuela, a spokesman for the agency said Friday after a person allegedly died in activities related to the arrival of aid to the country against the orders of President Nicolas Maduro.
Any loss of lives is regrettable,” U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters. Looking forward to tomorrow, the secretary general strongly urges the avoidance of violence,’ he added.
Self-proclaimed President Juan Guaidó has promised to bring in alleged international aid from neighboring countries on Saturday and he called on security forces to disobey Maduro and allow supplies into Venezuela.
