Contramaestre Government Exercises Democracy
The Contramaestre government, in exercise of socialist democracy, approved with 99.3 percent of valid votes cast to Julio César García García, as president of the Municipal Electoral Council.
In extraordinary session the delegates through direct, equal and secret suffrage approved the proposal presented for this position by the Provincial Electoral Council of Santiago de Cuba.
Julio César García stood out for his demonstrated merits and political, revolutionary and moral qualities; as well as for the experience accumulated in serving as president of the Municipal Electoral Commission during the partial and general elections 2018-2019.
With the constitution of this body of the State in Contramaestre the legislative activity of the National Parliament takes place, after the proclamation of the Constitution of the Republic in April this year and the approval of the new Electoral Law, Law number 127.
The Municipal Electoral Council is responsible, in accordance with the aforementioned Law, for developing democratic processes in Cuba: organizing, directing, supervising and validating elections, popular consultations, plebiscites and referendums called by the State Council.
For the same reason, in Baire, a solemn ceremony was held for the constitution of the Contramaestre Electoral Council and for its 17 members to take office, validating another expression of the democratic exercise of Cuban government.
