Maduro: Colombian Army Denies Support to Duque in Attack on Venezuela
The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, assured today that the Colombian military forces denied their support to his neo-Granadine counterpart, Iván Duque, to attack the Bolivarian nation.
During a videoconference with the Superior General Staff of the Bolivarian National Armed Force, the president claimed to have information about an exchange between Duque and the North American head of state, Donald Trump, where he was notified of the Army’s refusal to invade Venezuelan territory.
Maduro also informed of the Executive’s assessment of the total closure of the border with Colombia and blamed its president for any act of violence that may occur in the border area this weekend, when the right wing intends to illegally enter an alleged humanitarian aid.
On the other hand, the dignitary indicated his desire to improve bilateral relations with Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao, ‘but with respect’.
Maduro stressed that until they are sure that U.S. military bases are not being installed on the islands to attack Venezuela, they will neither resume diplomatic ties nor remove the limitation of free traffic.
Finally, he emphasized that the time has come for Venezuela to defend its legitimate right, its territory, its resources and to guarantee the dignity of the people.
