Growing campaign for Nobel Peace Prize for Lula da Silva

Paris, France. – After the Mayor’s Office of Paris awarded the title of Honorary Citizen to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, it began a social networking campaign aimed at asking for the Nobel Peace Prize for the former president.

We don’t know what might happen, but it would be very important to give it to Lula. He would be Brazil’s first Nobel Prize, said Argentina’s Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, who nominated the former worker leader for the award to be announced on Oct. 11.

Lula is a symbol of global resistance, said federal congressman Paulo Teixeira, pointing out that someone whose main mission in life was a political project to lift millions of Brazilians out of poverty deserves recognition.

The deputy mayor of the French capital, Patrick Klugman, said that the title of Honorary Citizen granted by the Mayor’s Office of Paris to the former Brazilian president represents a denunciation against injustice.
