Caribbean Summit High-Level Segment under way
With the attendance of heads of State and Government of countries of the region, such as our President Miguel Díaz-Canel, the high-level segment of the eighth Summit of the Association of Caribbean States is taking place today in Managua.
During the day, the leaders and their delegates will have to approve the Declaration of Managua, a document focused on strengthening the founding purpose of the organization to serve as a mechanism for consultation, cooperation and concerted action in the areas of trade, transport, sustainable tourism and natural disasters in the area.
If approved, the agreement will be in force until 2020 and it will encourage actions to promote education, culture, sports and the continuing process of strengthening the identity of the countries.
The Summit will be held under the slogan Uniting efforts in the Caribbean to face the consequences of climate change.
