Tercer Frente Oriental hosts Cuban Revolution Anniversary
Cruce de los Baños, Sierra Maestra. – The Tercer Frente Oriental municipality located in the very heart of the Sierra Maestra, the largest mountain chain in the country, Santiago de Cuba hosts this December 26th, the provincial ceremony of the 60th Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.
The commemoration will pay tribute to the martyrs of our last liberation war and especially to those of the guerrilla front founded by Commander Juan Almeida Bosque on March 6, 1958, whose mortal remains lie in the mausoleum erected on the top of the hill La Esperanza, protector of Cruce de los Baños, head town of the mountainous municipality.
Local authorities informed Radio Rebelde that some four thousand people, accompanied by the main leaders of the Party of Santiago de Cuba province and of the municipality, will attend the Political-Cultural Ceremony attended by relatives of martyrs, students and combatants of the Revolution.
The municipality of Tercer Frente Oriental is the largest coffee producer in the country and it reserves for this celebration the news of having surpassed its plan of one thousand one hundred tons of grain collected in the current harvest, as a special gift to the 60th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution.
The commemoration will be accompanied by agricultural fairs, industrial products and cultural and sports activities that will be extended during the last days of the year and the first days of January, to all the Popular Councils of the mountainous territory sealed with educational centers and the Family Doctor and Nurse.
To reflect the most significant moments of the impetuous rebel offensive against the seizure of Santiago de Cuba in late December 1958, after the resounding battle of Guisa, Radio Rebelde will broadcast its informative magazine Haciendo Radio on the 26th from the Tercer Frente, on the 27th from Palma Soriano, on the 28th from Contramaestre and on the 29th, 31st and first of January from Santiago de Cuba, where the National Central Ceremony for the 60th Anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution will take place.
