Insulin for life, a youth project against diabetes
Contramaestre, Nov.14.- Insulin for Life is the name of a project of the University Student Federation (FEU) against diabetes with ten young people who are in the fifth year of their medical studies at the Medical Sciences Branch of this municipality.
On the occasion of World Diabetes Mellitus Day on November 14, they carried out a community intervention in the Jesús Rabí Park where they explained their causes, symptoms, ways of living with the disease, possible complications, among other aspects.
Under the slogan that leads the 2019 campaign “Diabetes: protect your family” the young people insisted on the need to regulate, at home, the consumption of foods rich in sugars in healthy people. Meanwhile, for those who live with diabetic patients, the call to take care to avoid diabetic foot complications and skin ulcers was extended.
Due to the importance that each person knows their blood sugar level, blood pressure and cholesterol in a healthy range, a demonstration of the medical procedure to perform the blood glucose test was carried out.
The presentation of the Insulin FEU for Life project is included among the activities designed by the Young Communist League (YCU) in Contramaestre to commemorate Student Day on November 17.
