Contramaestre Doctors in May Day

Some 3,000 doctors, public health technicians and Contramaestre’s nurses will participate in May 1st. parade, which will take place on that glorious date. As a strong support of this specialized sector to the agreements of the recently concluded 21st Congress of the Cuban Workers Trade Union Confederation (CTC) and to the recently approved Constitution of the Republic of Cuba.

According to statements by Claribel Hernández Salgado, General Secretary of the Municipal Union of Contramastre Health Workers, the union she leads supports the pronouncements of the national meeting of Cuban workers and they work under the daily action of “Unity, commitment and victory”.

Hernández Salgado declared the feeling of solidarity of her comrades with the two doctors kidnapped in the Republic of Kenya: “One of the main motivations of our health workers is to offer the greatest support and solidarity to all our comrades who are currently carrying out collaboration missions, as na expression of solidarity, in dozens of needy nations of the world, especially in Latin America and Africa, and mainly that the message of encouragement and the hope that they will return safe and sound to the homeland, the medical comrades Assel Herrera and Landy Rodríguez, recently kidnapped in the fulfillment of their human task”.

The union leader added that: (…) the second extremely important motivation for the Contramaestre doctors and the rest of the health workers that we will march this May 1st through our streets is that Public Health occupies important spaces and texts of our Constitution of the Republic of Cuba, so it is our duty to defend and represent with dignity this service that the Revolution is constitutionally endorsing (…)
