Avocado nourishes and cures
Avocado is a source of food and we immediately relate it to the tasty salads and some of our favorite foods, however this fruit is a source of energy, beauty and health. It nourishes and cures.
The truth is that this tropical plant is rich in minerals, vitamins, acids and amino acids, although it is curious, and almost paradoxical, that being the avocado one of the richest fruits in triglycerides, its consumption decreases the level of this type of fat and cholesterol in the blood.
The hypolipemiant action (decrease in blood fats) of avocado results from the balanced composition of its fatty acids, as well as its great richness in vegetable fiber, although there may be other reasons unknown so far.
The scientific studies grant to the consumption of the Avocado several beneficial properties for the human being:
1. Circulatory disorders.
Avocado is a highly recommended food in case of arteriosclerosis, hypertension and heart disease in general. This is because, in addition to its interesting hypolipemic action contains very little sodium and abundant potassium.
2. Anemia.
The iron of the Avocado is assimilated quite well, reason why its consumption agrees in all those cases in which a greater contribution of iron is needed, like the adolescence and the pregnancy. This fruit should not be missing from the diet of those suffering from anemia due to blood loss or lack of iron. Its high content of vitamin C favours the absorption of iron.
3. Nervous affections
Avocado contains fats that are very necessary for the metabolism of the nervous system, such as linoleic acid and phospholipids. It is also very rich in vitamin B6, one of the most important for the neural function. This makes it an ideal food for those suffering from nervousness, irritability or nerve depression.
4. Digestive affections.
Avocado is an appropriate food for the diet for those who suffer from stomach ulcer or gastritis, due to its alkaline reaction and its softening and protective effect on the mucous membranes.
5. Diabetes
Recent studies show that consumption of avocado favors people suffering from diabetes because it helps to maintain an adequate level of glucose (blood glucose), it lowers cholesterol and improves the lipid profile (the composition of fats) in blood.
6. Toning diets.
Avocado is suitable in the diet to increase vitality and energy in a natural way, due to its great nutritive power, its easy digestion and its vitamin E content.7. It can fight leukaemia.
The avocado could help combat leukemia, as it has a lipid that attacks the resistant cancer stem cells that feeds that disease, in which there is a proliferation of abnormal white blood cells in the bone marrow.
Scientists at the University of Waterloo, in Canada, identified a compound called avocatin B. That substance is directed at these stem cells, which are often responsible for patients’ relapses.
The tests carried out have been positive, and the researchers are confident that in a few years the advance will allow them to obtain drugs that increase the quality of life and survival of people suffering from this ailment.
8. Ageing and beauty.
8. Ageing and beauty.
The avocado stimulates the formation of collagen that, and its high content of vitamin E, keeps the skin healthy and slows down aging. It also prevents or helps to cure eczema, dermatitis and pimples. The softening properties of this fruit are used in the cosmetics industry to make products for skin and hair.
Due to its components, avocado helps to restructure hair and its brightness, moisturizing it and giving it life. One way to apply it is to make a puree with the pulp of the ripe fruit to which you add a teaspoon of vegetable oil. This mixture is applied on the hair, it is left to act for about 20 minutes, and after this time you wash it with warm water. You will notice how the hairpins and the dryness of the hair disappear, and your hair gets lustrous.
Avocado also brings many benefits to the skin, especially those that are tired, dry, mixed and aged. If you want to try its effects, prepare a mask with the paste of a ripe avocado and a spoonful of honey. Apply this mixture on your face, leave it for about 30 minutes and then remove it with running water.
