Students in Contramaestre Repudiate Helms-Burton Act

Ninth-graders from Rodolfo Rodríguez Benítez Secondary School expressed their rejection against the Helms-Burton Act, with which the U.S. government intends to economically suffocate the Cuban people.

During the graduation ceremony of the aforementioned educational center, after three years of study, happiness and friendships, the middle level students of Contramaestre said farewell to their teachers and to the second level of teaching, to begin a new stage in their lives.

Many with the smiles of success for winning the grade and others expressing the sadness of leaving their friends behind, but all celebrated the end of the school year with a performance starring the school’s own students at the theater of the Communist Party of Cuba in Contramaestre.

During the activity, the anecdotes of Father Ricardo Vega Portales were listened to. At the end of the 80’s of the 20th century, he studied in that school and he congratulated the teachers for their excellent performance.

Students who participated in pioneer knowledge contests, vocational training and professional orientation activities were rewarded during the activity.

Also the outstanding ones received stimuli as far as the labor formation, cultural, sports, as pioneer leaders and pioneers vanguard.

As the Most Integral student of Rodolfo Rodríguez High School, Cinthia Lucía Vega was elected.

Miguel Manuel Osoria Arencibia, principal of the educational center, proudly referred to the level of preparation and responsibility of students who reach the ninth grade, their achievements and goals met in terms of educational teaching.

Osoria Arencibia confirmed that if it was a matter of depriving teenagers and their families of enjoying the beaches, the hotels and the profits of industries and companies, then the Helms-Burton Act is absolutely repudiable.

The educational leader stated that in Cuba no young person can be prevented from learning in schools, and that if that should be an hindrance, then we do not understand with the North American governors, neither in Spanish nor in English.
