Youths in Contramaestre at the vanguard of food production

Young Cubans, energetically and enthusiastically, took part in various tasks of socio-economic impact in the context of the 57th anniversary of the Young Communist League (UJC) to be celebrated on April 4.

The students arrived at Aguacate Basic Economic Unit (“UEB”), which belongs to the Laguna Blanca Agricultural Company, to plant sweet potatoes in the area, with the aim of improving the living standards of the community. There was no fear of the sun, of the difficult road on a truck and then of the tractor carts.

To carry out these agricultural tasks, they were taught how to plant by cutting the tuber. They learnt the characteristics of the soils, the weather conditions and the probable time of production.

On this important area of the economic development and food production, students from the Antonio Santiago García Preuniversity Institute, Wiliam Soler Polytechnic, Francisco Bello Mixed Center and the Contramaestre Medical Sciences Branch gave their contribution.

Young workers of the Base Committee OTS, the Tobacco Base Business Unit (UEB) and Aguacate UEB itself. All, centers acknowledged in a summary ceremony held in the park square of Laguna Blanca District.

The success of this task shows that there is a youthful mass in Contramaestre who responds when summoned. With no fear of hard work, sun or muddy ground.
