The situation in Ecuador worsens
Quito, Ecuador. – Ecuadorian President Lenín Moreno admitted to international news media his responsibility in the situation created in his country by his unpopular economic measures.
Ecuador experienced this Wednesday, the seventh day of protests, a national day of strike that ended with clashes at various points in Quito, the capital, and in other cities, among demonstrators, the police and the army.
Media videos show young people persecuted and beaten amid tear gas launched to dissipate the march, which coincided with the 199th anniversary of national independence.
Workers’ and indigenous organizations maintain that they will maintain their protests indefinitely, while the government refuses to eliminate its measures, including the abolition of the fuel subsidy, a demand by demonstrators to sit at the table of negotiations.
