Defense Day in Contramaestre stands for the people’s dreams
Defense Day in Contramaestre stands for the people’s dreams, against the US government’s far-fetched attempts to suffocate the inhabitants of the island of Cuba with a criminal economic blockade that has lasted more than 60 years now.
This concept, typical of a patriotism amassed by the people throughout hundreds of years of independence struggles, became evident during the realization of the Territorial Day for Defense in the municipality of Contramaestre.
The central activities of the day, had as main scenario the demarcation of the Patricio Lumumba neighborhood, one of the populous of this city.
Dozens of militiamen exercised during the activities of preparation for the defense this Sunday, June 23rd, the shooting with pellets as a way of practice and the suffocation of fires with rustic means.

The practices also included the planning of missions under combat conditions and medical care for wounded and injured. In addition, protective measures were taken against possible aggression with chemical substances.

Children studying at the Tony Alomá Serrano Primary School also exercised the continuity of classes under campaign conditions. To this end, they used rustic cardboard means in the form of notebooks and charcoal instead of traditional pencils.

Workers and skilled workers in various services that the population receives under normal conditions, showed how they can continue developing these tasks, under the possible exceptional circumstances that can impose a foreign aggression.
Government officials and the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) in Contramaestre, accompanied by officers and instructors of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, supervised and qualified as satisfactory the activities of preparation for this Sunday’s defense of Contramaestre.
In the conclusions of the exercises, stimuli were given to the most outstanding participants during the exercises before the population of Patricio Lumumba’s demarcation. Then the activities of selling food and providing services to residents were continued.
The celebration of the Defense Days is part of the usual activities of Cuban citizens, who are convinced that they will lower their guard in the face of the permanent US government threats.
Recently, the measures of blockade and subversion against the Cuban people have been intensified, in the heat of the implementation of Title III of the Helms Burton Act, also called by Cubans, the Stick Act.
