Cuban President arrives in Belarus on official visit
Minsk, Oct 22 (Latin Press) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez arrived in the capital today as part of an official visit, during which he will meet with his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko.
Upon his arrival at the airport in this city, the Cuban president was received by the Belarusian Minister of Industries, Vladimir Utyupin, and the Vice President of Foreign Affairs, Evgueni Shestakov, among other personalities.
During this day, the head of state is expected to visit sites of economic and cultural interest, including other activities.
The Cuban president’s trip comes after a visit to Ireland, where he spoke with his counterpart from that European country, Michael Higgins, who received him at his Áras an Uachtaráin residence.
The tour of the island’s head of state also includes an official visit to Russia and his participation in the 18th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement, to be held in Azerbaijan.
In this capital there is already an official delegation from Cuba, headed by the vice president of the government of that country, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, who the day before was received by the president of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of this nation, Vladimir Ulajovich.
Accompanying Cabrisas Ruiz are Agriculture Minister Gustavo Rodríguez Rollero, Central Bank of Cuba President Irma Margarita Martínez Castrillón, Vice Minister of Public Health Marcia Cobas, Biocubafarma President Eduardo Martínez Mesa, and Ambassador Juan Valdés Figueroa, among others.
The meeting denounced the US blockade against Cuba, intensified by the current US administration, according to diplomatic sources.
The Caribbean delegation also held a meeting at the headquarters of the Central Bank of Belarus, among other activities.
