Cooperatives in Contramaestre benefit from Spanish projects

Nine cooperatives of Agricultural Production, Credit and Service and Basic Units of Production in the municipality of Contramaestre, to the south of the east of Cuba, benefit from an international collaboration project financed by the Spanish foundation MUNDUBAT.

Yuliet Oliva Smit, coordinator of the project said that this foundation provides funding of 1.8 million euros for the cultivation of tomato and guava and includes other territories on the island, apart from Contramaestre.

The MUNDUBAT project works in chain looking for quality of the productions during its different processes and it is strengthened with the installation of two technified nurseries in Romárico Cordero Garcés and 26 de Julio Cooperatives of Agricultural Production.

The international collaboration project of reference that benefits either the state and private production units in Contramaestre began to be implemented in 2014 although its greatest impact has taken place in the 2016-2018 period, as a result of the intensive training of the personnel.

The training includes cooperative culture and management, business plans as well as strategic planning and communication, which enables greater performance of the people responsible for the project in the productive units.
