Contramaestre harvests and industrializes mangos
The harvest and industrialization of mangoes in the municipality of Contramaestre is today a reality. This territory also benefits fruits from other provinces of Cuba.
In the Base Business Unit (UEB), Industry, Commercialization and Tourism belonging to the Agorindustrial Company America Libre in Contramaestre, more than 280 tons of fruit have been collected so far to obtain pulp for commercialization in this region of the Island.
The main directors of the referred industry declared that the state and peasant productive bases of the own company are the ones that are delivering mangoes at this moment, although the hiring of the fruit with provinces like Granma, Holguín and other municipalities of Santiago de Cuba will be added.
The mango harvest in Contramaestre runs from May to June each year. Optimum stage for this tropical fruit whose pulps are made in this factory canned juices, nectars, jams and other assortments. Their destination is pastry shops, tourism and specialized agricultural markets in Santiago de Cuba city.
