Contramaestre for food crops

Agricultural producers in Contramaestre, a southeastern municipality of Cuba, are ready to grow food crops in the coming sowing stage by strengthening the intensive and organoponic orchards and plots.

Agriculture is the main economic branch in Contramaestre, and each state company and farmer cooperative take advantage of the coming cold season to grow vegetables, grains and fruit trees.

Every entrepreneur feels responsible for the food supply to more than one million inhabitants in Contramaestre municipality and Santiago de Cuba city, who entirely depends on the yield of the region.

Seventy five percent of the local food production is destined to Santiago de Cuba City, since its surroundings are mostly infertile soils, so food production is insufficient.

Now Contramaestre growing food plantation covers sixty thousand hectares to cope with the food demand of Santiago de Cuba City.
