Contramaestre Farmers, involved in food production

The farmers of Contramaestre, a southeastern municipality of Cuba, are intensifying their productive work in the last month of 2018 in order to satisfy the food stocks for the people.

Poultry, coffee growers, tropical food producers, cattle ranchers, pig farmers, beekeepers, foresters and tobacco growers in this municipality of Santiago are all working to achieve this goal. And its production work sustains the economy of the inhabitants of the territory, the province and the country.

December is not only the month to harvest and market food, vegetables, grains, fruits, eggs and meats. The farmers and cooperatives are also working to increase the crop levels to guarantee food for more than half a million people in Santiago and Contramaestre during the first quarter of 2019.

Special emphasis is given to the giant agricultural fairs to be held in Contramaestre and the city of Santiago de Cuba in view of the festivities for a New Year’ s Eve and the 60th anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution to be celebrated on January 1.

That will be a celebration at the end of December in which the farmers of Contramaestre will sell the largest volumes of food.
