Coffee Bean Sun Drying Starts in Guamá

The Benjamín Pardo Guerra Coffee Mill, located in the town of Las Coloradas, in the Santiago de Cuba municipality of Guamá, already starts the sun drying process of the first coffee beans harvested in the mountainous area.

According to its administrator, Migdalia Pérez Fajardo, the workers of this center alternate diverse activities that allow them to take advantage of the working day with efficiency, such is the case of the joint effort of all the workers in the coffee stirring, to eliminate its humidity in the sun dryers.

Pardo Guerra stated that one of the potentialities they have is precisely the quality of the human personnel of the industry, highly professional technicians who undertake responsibly the different tasks assigned to them. He also said that sales have begun satisfactorily. Two tons of coffee have already been delivered in the so-call pre-harvesting, since the crop bulk actually starts in October.

Here one of the best coffee beans of Cuba is produced. Its fine quality is largely due to the height where they are cultivated above sea level, to their flavor, color and aroma. Café Turquino, Extra Turquino and Altura, are the labels used for the world market.

Marketing abroad allows to have incomes that can contribute to improve the industrial process and and growing condintions in this hilly region.
