Bee honey for export in Contramaestre
Contramaestre has an important bee honey processing center that makes important contributions to the Cuban economy. This is the Honey Benefit Plant.
This facility receives raw material from six eastern provinces of Cuba, Santiago de Cuba, Guantánamo, Holguín, Granma, Las Tunas and Camagüey, when necessary, reported Isabel Fuentes Toledano, specialist B in agro-industrial production, and production chief at the plant.
The mission of the plant is to benefit bee honey basically for export as well as the manufacture of sheet boxes for the beehives of honey producers.
The Benefiting Plant in Contramaestre processes both organic honey and conventional honey for export above all. Only a small percentage of production is destined for national consumption, mainly for LABIOFAM, pharmacy, and Optics.
The honey productions of this plant are certified by the laboratory of the Institute of Sciences of Havana and Luhmann Testing Center of Germany. And CubaExport is responsible for marketing both organic and conventional honeys.
