Without education there is no Revolution

Today the activities of the National Preparatory Seminar for the 2019-2020 school year continue, after yesterday’s intense day, where Diaz-Canel, president of Cuba, reaffirmed that “without education there is no Revolution” following Fidel Castro’s idea.

The Cuban President emphasized the need for an integral education, perfecting the role of libraries and the learning of foreign languages. He also alluded to the benefits of Cuban education by opening a new school for disabled children in Santiago de Cuba and setting up another in Villa Clara in the near future.

Attention to teachers and the timely distribution of materials should be prioritized issues to ensure a better environment in the educational teaching process, said the President of Cuba.

On the other hand, the Minister of Education, Ena Elsa Velazquez, stated that the most worrisome problem of education in Cuba at the moment is the deficit of teachers in the classrooms. So Diaz-Canel suggested focusing on retaining those who are working.

Another issue discussed in the seminar was the low enrolment in university pedagogical courses, especially those with exact science profiles.

The Minister informed that in spite of the problems analyzed in the seminar, the direction of the country and the direction of education work to guarantee the improvement of the teaching personnel in search of a better quality of teaching.

In addition, the seminar dealt with topics related to the need to improve primary and artistic education and its role in integral education.
