The Cuban Parliament examines today constitutional draft after popular consultation
This Friday, during the Second Ordinary Period of Sessions of the Cuban Parliament, in its 9th Legislature, the draft Constitution of the Republic of Cuba will be presented, resulting from the process of popular consultation that mobilized the entire country from August 13 to November 15.
From the popular consultations, a summary was derived, presented by Homero Acosta Álvarez, Secretary of the Council of State, to the deputies on Tuesday, in a plenary session attended by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
Acosta Álvarez explained that around 21,770 comrades were involved in the organization and processing, in one way or another, of the consultation process.
He also stated that the evaluations that recognize the democratic, unique and singular character of the process have predominated and that they express satisfaction for the Cuban State’s importance to the public opinion in order to enrich the Constitutional Reform.
The summary includes 9,595 model proposals, and although not all of them have an exact reflection in the constitutional text, they contributed to the collective construction of a draft that synthesizes the people’ willpower.
Today the deputies will examine, in an independent way, the new Draft, and on Thursday, gathered in working groups, they will discuss the changes and they will be able to clear up any doubts, a process that will be transmitted to the population.
