Strong explosion occurs in Pinar del Río-Possible meteorite
A strong explosion was heard today in Pinar del Río (the westernmost province of Cuba). Some people say they saw fire and smoke in the sky.
Users on social networks reported an explosion followed by smoke in the western province of Pinar del Río.
Our correspondent in that city, Evelyn Corbillón, stated that a strong explosion was heard minutes ago in several municipalities in that province, such as Consolación del Sur, Minas de Matahambre, Viñales, San Juan and Martínez and in the capital Pinar del Rio City.
Experts from the provincial delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) are in different parts of that western territory to confirm the nature of these events.
Several people in Pinar del Río claim to have seen something out of the ordinary across the sky.
By telephone, journalist Evelyn Corbillón, who is currently in the CITMA territorial delegation, reported that specialists from that institution have already moved to Viñales, where the events seem to have taken place.
In the Mural of Prehistory, in Viñales the fall of black stones of around 7 cm after a great rumble can be seen, Tele Pinar reports.
