Soil is the mother of fortune
Undoubtedly, soil is the mother of fortune. In Contramaestre, more than 4,000 agricultural, forestry and tobacco workers can attest to this.
Every October 3, the day of the Agricultural, Forestry and Tobacco Worker is celebrated in Cuba. In Contramaestre, producers of tropical viands, poultry farmers, pig farmers, beekeepers, ranchers, coffee growers, foresters, tobacco growers, researchers and fruit growers have the great commitment to achieve high volumes of food for the population, industry and exports.
Achieving the goal is not easy, especially when Cuba’s agricultural sector is strongly affected by US the economic, commercial and financial blockade against the island.
Only unity, integrity, hard work and love for one’s neighbor impel the farmers, foresters and tobacco growers of Contramaestre to overcome the challenges. And although the energy contingency is real, here the work on the soil does not stop.
The accelerated transformation demanded today by Contramaestre agriculture requires the design of activities, strategies and techniques that stimulate the development of the creativity of workers, technicians and agronomists in this sector.
In the celebration for October 3 in Contramaestre a score of producers and collectives were recognized for their outstanding contribution. They validated the legacy of our National Hero José Martí when he said, and I quote: … “Honoring those who fulfilled their duty is the most effective way to encourage others to follow through.
