Recovered 58 percent of the homes damaged by tornado in Havana
A little more than a month after the tornado that affected several municipalities in the capital, 58 percent of the total damage houses have been recovered.
According to information from the recent ordinary session of the Provincial Government, out of the 3,267 cases involving houses of type one, 80 percent have been resolved. In addition, 170 multi-family buildings were repaired, where more than 400 water tanks were installed.
Twenty-three state-owned companies and 18 non-agricultural cooperatives in Havana were involved in the recovery work, in addition to the support of eight provinces of the country, for the construction of 804 new homes.
Currently 459 homes are being built on the same location, 72 in settlements and 273 in premises adapted by agencies of the Central State Administration.
In total, the damage caused by the tornado in homes amounts to 7,967, of which 4,085 in Diez de Octubre, 2,096 in Regla, 184 in Guanabacoa, 471 in Cerro and 131 in Habana del Este. Total landslides amount to 752 and partial landslides to 931, while in the case of roofs, damages are total in 1,109 cases, and partial in 1,908. It was also known at the meeting that out of the 19 affected health institutions, only the Louis Pasteur polyclinic still pending and out of 78 damaged schools , 72 have been repaired.
On the night of Sunday, January 27, an intense tornado hit several Havana municipalities, with winds estimated at 300 kilometers per hour, which caused human and material losses.
