Putin confirms his willingness to visit Cuba
Moscow, Oct 29 (Latin Press) Russian President Vladimir Putin said today that he will gladly accept the invitation to visit Cuba when he meets his counterpart from that Caribbean country, Miguel Diaz-Canel, at the Novoe Ogoriovo residence on the outskirts of the capital.
Putin congratulated Diaz-Canel on his election as president of Cuba. “Last year you made an official visit to this country, but now you are doing so for the first time as head of state of the Republic of Cuba, as provided for in the new Constitution,” he said.
Likewise, he affirmed that in Russia they know well the prehistory of the ties between the two countries. “I would like to emphasize that this year you are making a broad visit, I hope it has been interesting and useful”, he said.
The Russian head of state also referred to the 33 percent increase in bilateral trade last year and stressed that in Russia they always viewed Cuba’s independent position and sovereign policy with special sympathy.
