Patriarch Kirill Receives Cuban President
La Habana, Oct 30.- The Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia, His Holiness Kirill, received this Wednesday the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, according to ACN.
The Cuban President expressed the will to continue consolidating the excellent relationship with the Patriarchate of Moscow and all of Russia and highlighted the special appreciation for the gesture of trust that meant having proposed Havana as the venue for his meeting with Pope Francisco in 2016.
His Holiness Kirill sent an affectionate greeting to Army General Raúl Castro Ruz and recalled the support given by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, to the materialization of the construction of an orthodox temple in Havana, opened in 2008.
Present at the meeting were the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, and the Cuban Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Gerardo Peñalver Portal.
