New Japanese Ambassador to Cuba

Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of Cuban Parliament, today greeted Kazuhiro Fujimura, Japan’s new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Cuba, at the institutional headquarters of the Cuban legislature at the Capitol in Havana.

Just before, Ana María Mari Machado, vice-president of the Cuban Parliament, had received the diplomat on a courtesy visit, to whom she expressed the importance of giving continuity to the ties that have traditionally existed between the two states, which in December will celebrate the 90th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Mari Machado recalled the Parliamentary Collaboration Agreement between the two legislatures in force since 2017 and the importance of the role played by both entities in the negotiations with Japan, from which very positive experiences have been obtained.

Fujimura thanked the meeting and called for closer bonds regarding the collaboration agreements and projects that Japanese companies are undertaking today in Cuba, in important sectors such as public health and fundamental services for the population such as water supply.
