More than half a million Cuban signatures will also reach the UN in support of Venezuela
The thanks to the Cubans for the support given – once again – with the signature in support of the letter sent to the UN, issued the Venezuelan ambassador, Adán Chávez Frías when he received the forms containing the signatures of thousands of students and workers from the provinces of Pinar del Río, La Habana, Artemisa, Mayabeque and Matanzas.
At the headquarters of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, the diplomat pointed out that this show of solidarity, commitment and brotherhood towards his country is something forever, consolidated by the friendship that existed between Comandantes Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez.
He assured that more than 13 million signatures have already been collected in his country and that other peoples such as Bolivia and Nicaragua also accompanied this process, including other progressive friends from both the United States and Europe, which demonstrates the sympathy for the Revolution in his country and the rejection of imperialism.
“We will continue to fight for our freedom, sovereignty, for real brotherhood among our peoples, for true national identity, for dignity and peace, in Our America and in the world,” added the Venezuelan ambassador and stressed that Cuba will continue to be the imperishable guide for those who fight every day against capitalism and for the emancipation of human beings.
For his part, Ismael Drullet Perez, leader of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba said: “The process developed in the labor and student collectives became an important space for denunciation and vigorous condemnation of the unprecedented escalation launched by the U.S. government against Venezuela with the promotion of violence, economic sabotage, plans for assassinations, financing and organization of coups d’état, theft of sovereign assets and application of multiple economic measures, aimed at causing suffering and hardship to the population.
He mentioned that in recent hours, President Trump has formalized the spuriousness of Venezuela’s national goods and threatens partner countries, putting at risk the security of 30 million inhabitants, preventing access to food, medicine and essential imported inputs, contrary to the legal order governing the United Nations and the basic principles of human rights.
These signatures collected in Cuba will be taken along with the more than 13 million taken in the country of Venezuela itself and thousands more expressed by the expressed will of every person of good will in the world who joined the campaign: No More Trump! (No More Trump!) campaign, condemning the unilateral and interfering actions of the U.S. government and President Donald Trump.
Recently the newspaper Granma published the words of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, in his speech of July 26, 2018, “for us, as for Venezuela and Nicaragua, it is very clear that the siege is being tightened and our people must be alert and prepared to respond to each challenge with unity, firmness, optimism and unwavering faith in victory.
