Joao Lourenço dialogues in Cuba with Angolan students

Havana, July 2 (Prensa Latina) The president of Angola, Joao Lourenço, spoke today with students from his country who are studying in Cuba thanks to a cooperation agreement between the two countries.

Manuel Domingos, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Maria do Rosário Bragança and José César Augusto, Angola’s ambassador to Cuba, also participated in the meeting, which took place at the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) in Havana.

After listening to the Angolan students, the president urged them to fulfill their duties and rights, as well as to achieve their study goals in order to contribute to the development of their country.

Meanwhile, the head of Higher Education expressed the commitment of the Angolan authorities to the young people preparing on the island, whom she advised to make every effort to successfully complete their studies.

To date, Cuba has graduated almost eight thousand Angolan professionals in health, education, construction and other areas.

As part of the agenda of his official visit to Cuba, the president of Angola and his delegation visited this Tuesday morning the Zona Especial de Desarrollo Mariel (ZEDM), where he had a detailed explanation of the place.

Accompanied by the Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, he saw the carrying out of several works to host foreign capital that contributes to the development of the island.

The day before, Lourenço awarded the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Raúl Castro, and the president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, with the Order Agostinho Neto, the highest distinction conferred by the Angolan government.

The Revolutionary Armed Forces Minister, Leopoldo Cintra; Army Corps General, Ramón Espinosa; and Brigadier-General-Commander Raúl Díaz-Argüelles was also awarded post-morten.

Meanwhile, Raúl Castro awarded the Angolan leader with the José Martí order, the highest distinction of the Cuban State Council.
