Irish Prime Minister Receives President of Cuba
Dublin, Ireland. – Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, President of the Republic of Cuba, was received by the Prime Minister of Ireland, Leo Varadkar, as part of his official visit to that European nation, which began Sunday.
In its Twitter profile, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Diaz-Canel visited the Kilmainham Prison on Monday, an installation that is part of the political and penal history of Ireland, a place that reflects the tribute paid by Ireland for its independence.
The Cuban president was also received this morning by the Irish president, Michael Higgins, at his official residence in Árasan Uachtaráin, located in the Phoenix Park, in the north of Dublin, the capital city.
About his visit to that country, Díaz-Canel wrote in his Twitter account: Ireland is an island like Cuba and we are united by many historical feelings. We are two island nations close to each other in the same ocean of struggle and hope.
