International Convention on Environment and Development in Havana

Havana, Cuba. – On its third day, the Havana-based International Convention on Environment and Development proposes an analysis of protected areas in Latin America, and the role of biological corridors, while debates continue at the event’s symposiums and congresses.

On Tuesday, CITMA Environment Director Odalis Goicochea stated that confronting environmental problems is a challenge, but also an opportunity to strengthen the resilience of economic and social development programs.

She meant that, as reflected in the Tarea Vida (“Life Task”), the projections ratify the rise of the mean sea level, which would imply the slow decrease of the country’s emerged surface.

In the context of the Convention, the 1st Symposium on Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Ecosystems emphasized the national program of beach recovery and maintenance.
