Diaz-Canel encourages Biocubafarma to grow

During the annual review of the Biocubafarma Business Group, the president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz Canel, called on this institution to ensure stability in the Basic Table of Medicines, to continue working on import substitution, incorporate new products and strengthen clinical trials.

It is necessary to export more, import less, diversify products and markets, as well as strengthen foreign investment and negotiating teams, insisted the President.

In the midst of complex situations, he called for continued development of investments to modernize production processes and strengthen technological and logistical infrastructures.

In Biocubafarma’s annual report, Diaz Canel urged to defend the production chains, strengthen ties with universities and continue developing without underestimating products of natural origin.

Biocubafarma is proud of the Revolution, said President Miguel Diaz Canel in the balance of the Business Group and he said that like many people he cannot help but feeling deeply proud to be Cuban due to the contributions of the institution.

The president of Biocubafarma, Eduardo Martinez said that the increase in production levels allowed to decrease by approximately 40 percent the lack of medicines with respect to the last two years.

However, he recalled, a group of drugs were missing at various times in 2018, complex due to the tightening of the blockade and financial persecution, and he listed among the achievements the introduction of 23 new products in the domestic market.
