Diaz-Canel calls for elimination of obstacles to investments in Education
Havana, Aug 24 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel urged the elimination of obstacles to foreign investment in Cuba’s education sector.
During a meeting with authorities from the Ministries of Education (MINED) and Higher Education (MES), the president learned that among the main obstacles to investment is the shortage of qualified personnel.
He called for the strengthening and diversification of exports of goods and services and the substitution of imports, tasks that cannot be postponed due to the complex economic situation in Cuba.
Diaz-Canel was informed that MINED has collaboration agreements with 16 countries in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean and Australia, while it will produce audiovisuals and didactic toys to promote exports.
The expansion, through the use of new technologies, of the recognized literacy program Yo, sí puedo (Yes! I Can make it) is also part of the entity’s plans.
The MES works on offering undergraduate and graduate courses and scientific events.
