Details on the start of the Olympic school year

The Schools of the sports education system will begin the so-called Olympic School Year on September 2, corresponding to the four-year cycle that will close with the Tokyo 2020 Games.

They will do so with the well-known strengths and weaknesses of these times, in a Cuba blocked and besieged to the extreme by the U.S. government.

A recent report by the Inder’s Teaching Department confirms favorable enrollment in schools for beginners (Eide), physical education teachers (Epef) and high-performance athletes (ESFAAR), despite existing difficulties in infrastructure and material security.

According to the document sent to JIT, 13,410 students should register in the Eide, while 9,184 will register in the Epef. The ESFAAR Cerro Pelado will accommodate 922 athletes and the Giraldo Córdova Cardín 605, which represents not only the base of Tokyo 2020, but also of the next sports quadrennium (2021-2024).

Material security is fundamentally guaranteed, although its management will still have to be sustained in the first weeks of the school year in order to achieve its greatest completeness.

The centers with the greatest difficulties in terms of study, living and working conditions are currently the Eide de Matanzas, Las Tunas and Mayabeque, as well as the Epef of Matanzas and Artemisa provinces.

The educational coverage, although applying alternatives, is in the Eide 95% in basic subjects and 97% in sports training, while in the Epef amounts to 92%. These figures are partly affected by the reincorporation of professionals as a result of the salary income occurred in the budgeted sector.

According to the directors of this area in the central organism, the process of registration adjusts to the established thing and emphasizes the quality in the pedagogical delivery of a level or center to the others.

They also ratified that in the organizational and political-ideological orders the course should be developed in a satisfactory way, given the prevailing spirit of work and dedication in students and pedagogical groups.

In the second fortnight of September, as usual, there will be a check-up of the beginning of the school year in the sports field.

ON THE DELIVERY OF MATERIALS

. First semester notebooks, pencils, pens, textbooks, paper, chalks, erasers, laboratory reagents, attendance records and workbooks are guaranteed.

. The delivery of sheets, covers, blankets and sports shoes is in process.

. Cleaning tools, detergent, toilet soap, toothpaste, deodorant, baskets, brooms and buckets are distributed.

. The delivery of uniforms continues in the provinces and on August 28 this process began in the national centers.

. Gloves, pets and mascots, handball, volleyball, football and basketball, chess games, weightlifting discs for the Epefs and sports teams are distributed.

. We work in the production of specialized clothing for the Eide and the sports suit for the national centers.

. We work intensely with the sports industry and with others to find answers to the number of imports that for the third consecutive year could not be carried out.
