Cubans, getting ready for May Day
The Cuban Workers’ Union (CTC) and the National Unions are calling on all the people for a massive day of national mobilization to celebrate International Workers’ Day, with the slogan Unity, Commitment and Victory.
The appeal states that we will celebrate May Day immersed in the struggle for economic efficiency that is the essential task, and aware that, in the materialization of priorities, the contribution of workers is decisive.
The celebrations on World Proletariat Day will have a special motivation, the resounding YES of our people in the Constitutional Referendum, unequivocal decision of Cubans to preserve and perfect Socialism.
Another motivation for May Day are the upcoming final sessions of the 21st Congress of the CTC, from which important agreements will derive to confront the complexities of the labor and union scenario.
In Defense of the Homeland
In the compact and colorful parades, rallies and acts in the squares and towns of the country on May Day, the demand for the cessation of the criminal and genocidal blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States will multiply.
On World Proletariat Day, the trade unions will reaffirm the decision to be always alert and prepared to defend the Homeland as the greatest honor and supreme duty of every Cuban.
The mobilizations are characterized by patriotism, joy, individual and collective acknowledgement, as well as by the commitment to move forward in the process of updating the Cuban economic and social model.
They will also ratify the support for the brother nations of Latin America and the Caribbean and the rejection against the goal of destabilizing progressive social projects such as that of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
