Cuban parliament to hold extraordinary session on historic day
Havana, Cuba. – October 10, a historic day for the homeland, was the date selected by the Cuban Parliament for its Extraordinary Session in order to elect its president, vice-president and secretary, and other members of the Council of State, as well as the president and vice-president of the Republic of Cuba.
Ana María Mari Machado, vice-president of the Parliament, offered details on how this day will go on in the television program Hacemos Cuba (We Do Cuba).
She explained that in the first moment the proposals of candidatures for the election of the president, vice-president and secretary of the Parliament will be presented and approved by the deputies, which, as established in the Constitution, are belong to the Council of State, integrated from the election by 21 members.
A vote is then taken and once elected, the leadership of Parliament and the rest of the Council of State take office.
Bringing the Magna Carta to life
In the television program Hacemos Cuba, the deputy head of Parliament, Ana María Mari Machado, pointed out that in a second moment of the extraordinary session of the Parliament on October 10, the election of the president and vice president of the Republic will proceed, after the nominations have been presented and approved.
She highlighted the hard work of the National Candidatures Commission, which is responsible for studying, analyzing and evaluating each of the legislators’ assessments during the consultation process.
In that sense, Mari Machado emphasized the broad preparation, discipline and responsibility of the deputies, as worthy representatives of the people, when formulating their proposals for such high positions.
The extraordinary session of the Cuban Parliament, next October 10, continues to bring the letter of the Magna Carta that the Cuban people ratified to life.
