Cuban delegation attends International Tourism Fair in Russia
The Cuban Minister of Tourism, Manuel Marrero Cruz, presides over the Cuban delegation to the MITT-2019 fair, which today opens with the participation of 1,799 exhibitors from 239 regions and countries.
The Cuban delegation also includes representatives of the travel agencies Cubanacán, Ecotur and Cubatur, Hotel Groups Islazul, Cubanacán and Gran Caribe, as well as as associates Iberostar, Roc Hotels, Barceló, Meliá, Accor and Blue Diamond, among others, according to Prensa Latina.
In 2018, Russia remained among the 10 main markets emitting visitors to Cuba, exceeding the figure of 137 thousand tourists, which in turn, was the fastest growing in this main group.
Pinar del Río, Havana, Varadero, Los Cayos, Holguín and Trinidad/Cienfuegos remain the Cuban destinations of greatest preference for Russian tourists, who bet on the product of Sun and Beach, natural beauties and Cuban heritage.
Within the framework of MITT, participants will be invited to the 39th edition of the Fitcuba 2019 International Tourism Fair, which this year will take place from May 6 to 11 and it will have Spain as the guest country.
Fitcuba will be dedicated to events and incentives and its headquarters will be Havana, within the framework of the 500th Anniversary of its foundation.
We are living through the best moment in history in terms of Russian tourists travelling to Cuba,” Juan Escalona, Tourism Counselor at the Cuban Embassy, told Prensa Latina exclusively on February 3.
Last year the record was broken, with more than 137,000 Russian tourists, for a growth of 30 percent, he said.
There are two important Russian tour operators with charter flights, Pegas and Anex tour, while we have another company with intentions to put charter flights for next winter, he said.
There is a general interest in promoting Russian tourism from the regions, and here we are referring to Russian territories with the capacity to generate flights and corporate groups from each of these administrative divisions, explained the Cuban advisor.
That will be one of the directions in which we are going to work very hard in 2019, he added.
We channel this activity through Havanatur, the Cuban tour operator here in Russia,” Escalona said.
