Cuban Baseball Challenged Today

Cuban baseball experiences is challenged today, since the results of recent times, where not only did we fail to get the first place, to which we were accustomed, but the performance of the team is far below what they really could if we evaluated the individual history of each player.

This adverse moment  is attributed to the deficient background preparation, to the number of games of the athletes for life, to the number of games per series, to the failure to use the correct techniques for physical and psychological development, due to the lack of updating of the trainers, and to the lack of follow-up and use of science.

These unexpected results of Cuban baseball are also, as appropriate, assigned to team management, specifically to the mentor, for ill-advised decisions.

There is nothing we can do in the past, but it is useful to trace new paths without pitfalls, or at least to diminish them, in pursuit of the quality of the Cuban baseball. It is very important that, at the level of the top decision-makers of this sport, there is also reflection on their impact on the results here and  abroad. We trust in collective intelligence and that the prizes will be awarded to those who performed best in the field.

The truth is that far from evaluating the results in international competitions, Cuban baseball still works with a certain pallor as a national spectacle, it still motivates. However, it will recover its color totally when the stadiums exhibit better conditions both in their infrastructure and in cafeteria offers; our baseball players show a preparation of excellence as demanded by the public that follows and supports them. We are still in time to put it at the level that its defense demands as an inescapable part of the national identity.

Regardless of the economic limitations that hinder the acquisition of sports equipment and materials, it is necessary to review and control the resources allocated to the base for baseball development.

We trust that the changes in this new National Series will bring about a better performance of the athletes on the field and greater satisfaction of the spectators who do not lose hope of enjoying again our national pastime and more decent performances of the Cuban team in the international arena.
