Cuba signs Loan Agreement

Havana, Cuba. – Antonio Carricarte, Cuba’s First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, and Abdulhamid Alkhalifa, Director General of the Fund of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries for International Development (OFID) signed a Loan Agreement in Havana.

The document establishes financing of US$25 million to improve the sewage and drainage situation in the municipalities of La Lisa, Playa and Marianao.

It is a soft loan with a grace period of 5 years and a minimum interest rate, explained Antonio Rodríguez Rodríguez, president of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources.

The representative of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries traveled to Cuba on an official visit to celebrate Havana’s 500th anniversary, and plans meetings with ministers and tours of areas of intervention of projects executed with their financing.
