Cuba Reiterates Support for Venezuela in the Face of More U.S. Sanctions

Havana, July 4 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez reiterated on Thursday his support for Venezuela in the face of new U.S. sanctions against the island precisely for maintaining solid ties with the South American country.

Through his account on Twitter, the dignitary assured that we will continue to support the Bolivarian Revolution without submitting ourselves to the unilateral and violating measures of International Law applied by the United States.
The day before, the Treasury Department placed Cubametales on its unilateral list of entities sanctioned for maintaining links with Venezuela due to the import of oil from that South American nation.

According to the U.S. government, the Antillean country continues to support Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in Defense, Intelligence and Security Assistance in exchange for that oil.

For this measure, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of that department forbids Cubametales relations with Americans and blocks its possible assets in U.S. territory.

U.S. local media also reported that OFAC identified nine vessels, some of which were transporting oil from Venezuela to Cuba, as blocked property belonging to several companies.

Washington uses the issue of Cuba’s support for Venezuela to justify new measures against the island, in the face of this meddling position, Havana reiterates that solidarity with Caracas is not negotiable.
