Cuba in second stage of the Polio Vaccination Campaign

The Island joins the week of Vaccination in the Americas with the 28th National Oral Polio Vaccination Campaign, whose second phase will run from today to April 27.

In the first stage, which lasted until March 2, children from one month of age to 2 years, 11 months and 29 days were immunized.

These children will be given another dose in this second stage of the National Oral Polio Vaccination Campaign that begins this Monday until April 27, and they will also be reactivated with a dose of the immunogen for kids from 9 years old to 11 months and 29 days.

Cuba was the first country in Latin America to be declared free of the disease, maintaining 99.5 percent vaccination coverage among different population groups.
