Cuba denounces in Russia consequences of the US tightening blockade

The activation of Chapter III of the US extraterritorial Helms-Burton Act reinforces the blockade against the Island and the violation of international law, said Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla today.

The U.S. has recently announced that on the basis of the Helms-Burton law, lawsuits can be filed against Cuban and foreign companies in U.S. courts, Rodríguez Parrilla said to a question from Prensa Latina.

This is one more step in the aggressive enforcement of U.S. laws against third countries, which constitutes a gross violation of international law and the sovereignty of all states, the Cuban foreign minister said.

In addition, there has been a strong international reaction against this new instrument that hardens the blockade against Cuba, stressed the FM of the Island in a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart, Serguei Lavrov, at the end of official talks in this capital.

Rodriguez Parrilla stated that the counterparts of trade, investment, tourism and other fields have expressed their intention to persist in their legitimate business in the Largest of the Antilles.

Our government has given all the guarantees of legal security with respect to a law totally inapplicable in our country, as established by a Cuban antidote law, clarified the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
